Barracuda
Networks Clustering
|
| The Barracuda Spam
Firewall supports clustering of multiple nodes for both redundancy
and to increase total system capacity. For centralized management,
Barracuda Spam Firewalls share configuration and policy across the
cluster, and administrators can change policy or access any message
received across the cluster from any individual node. For redundancy
of quarantine mail storage, all quarantined messages are stored
in at least two nodes in the cluster, ensuring that messages are
always available in the event that one node becomes unavailable.
Barracuda Spam Firewall clusters can span geographies to facilitate
redundancy across sites.
Barracuda Spam Firewall clusters are typically deployed in conjunction
with balancing of DNS MX records or with an IP load balancer, such
as the Barracuda Load Balancer. In general, configuring multiple
MX records is a preferred deployment when setting up Barracuda Spam
Firewalls across multiple locations. Because of the potential for
spammers to attack each IP address listed in the DNS MX record,
many Barracuda Spam Firewall customers who place multiple systems
in a single location prefer using an IP load balancer to hide multiple
Barracuda Spam Firewalls behind a single virtual IP address.
